If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I’d like to do
Is to save every day ’til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

Donna’s post reminded me of the long weekend my late husband and I spent at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. The movie Somewhere in Time was filmed there, an extremely sentimental and romantic love story involving time travel and starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. All of those associations with time reminded me of Jim Croce’s song, which was the love song my sister and her boyfriend cherished before she was killed in a car accident at the age of 20. In my mind, the best use of time we’ll ever learn “is just to love and be loved in return”, as Nat King Cole sang.

  1. OK…now I am sobbing. I have always” felt” the love story you shared with your husband and it continues. I believe it will always continue, Priscilla. You brought tenderness to all of us today through Time in a Bottle. I am sure tears were shed as you wrote this too, and I hope to place them here offered a tiny bit of healing. You were, are so loved. Thank you.

  2. Well Priscilla, you certainly reached into the heart of the challenge and reminded us all to use our time well as there is always a chance there will be no tomorrow. The song was perfect for your precious images as was your closing. I know you’ve learned this one the hard way – thank you for sharing and for opening your heart for us this week.

  5. Priscilla, these are beautiful images and all very poetic. The stories you told through these photographs are very touching. Closing with your photo with your late husband and the mention of the movie Somewhere in Time was perfect.
