“The walking of which I speak has nothing in it akin to taking exercise, as it is called, as the sick take medicine at stated hours …but it is itself the enterprise and adventure of the day.”
― Henry David Thoreau

“I must walk toward Oregon, and not toward Europe.”
― Henry David Thoreau

“When you walk, arrive with every step. That is walking meditation. There’s nothing else to it.”
― Thích Nhất Hạnh

“I think I cannot preserve my health and spirits unless I spend four hours a day at least—and it is commonly more than that—sauntering through the woods and fields absolutely free from all worldly engagements.”
― Henry David Thoreau

“A March morning is only as drab as he who walks in it
without a glance skyward, ear cocked for geese.”
― Aldo Leopold

Walking is also one of my favorite activities.
Beautiful images that you show us.
Thanks, Ana! I love the fall colors in your Pyrenees shots especially. Soon we will have turning colors and rain here, and my walks will be less dusty. 😉
Thank you for sharing this beautiful set of photos of your walk, Priscilla. The second image is my favorite. Enjoy reading these inspiring quotes.
Thanks, Amy! I love Oregon’s foggy days. That second photo shows my son and his dog while we walked to the top of Spencer’s Butte during a visit a few years ago. The light and view enchanted me. I’m so glad I moved here!
Oregon is a beautiful state, so much to see there. 🙂
Wonderful thoughts and photos.
Thanks!
Welcome
“grateful for each step I take” – now that is a powerful thought Priscilla! Loved your quotes this week, which work beautifully with your images.
Thanks, Tina! There is so much suffering all around these days – gratitude is the attitude that makes sense to me.
Thanks for sharing all those great quotes along with your images. For the last few days, I have remained indoors here in Northern California. The smokey, hazardous air due to multiple fires prevent any kind of walk.
I was in CA for three months last year while my Mom was in hospice. We stayed indoors with the air conditioning and air purifier for weeks. A day that we could open windows and breath fresh air was a true gift! Hoping you have patience and hope and a photo archive of good walks to look forward to. ❤
Love Thoreau’s quotes. And your perspective.
Yes, his book “Walking” was a natural source for quotes! Thanks, Ann-Christine, for your visit!

Great photos, GREAT quotes. Walk more!
Thanks! Great advice!
