July 10th. The anniversary of my father’s birth. A man I was close to for 48 years, but whom I was just getting to know when he became wordless. He wrote his memoirs just before developing Alzheimer’s disease. (see this post for a more complete story)

I went back to the slideshow that my brother-in-law put together for Dad’s memorial and found myself seeing the scope of his life in a new way. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this story is a book I can’t stop reading.

My father has in common description with your father, a smart and very strict Dad. My father will be turning 88 next month and still mentally and physically active and but still very strict. Still i love my father… Love your post Scillagrace…. Thanks for sharing.
