This was taken at the Arboretum of UW Madison, and it makes me think of how concrete is replacing wood all over Wisconsin…something I contemplate daily, probably. Funny I’d find this incarnated at an arboretum!
It’s very rare I miss one of you posts Scillmeister……
I don’t often comment, but I ALWAYS read………
I’m afraid I find the total banality of 90% of what I think/write usually doesn’t sit well with your posts, which tend to be mature, reasoned and, dare I say it, sensitive things…….
9 times out of 10 they make me pause and think….So you’re getting a result (even if I don’t let you know as much as I should).

Wow. Well, that kind of feedback absolves you from commenting or liking anything ever again. I trust you, dear reader!
Hi Scilla,
It is a very interesting photo–with an interesting transition from concrete forest to wooden trunked trees.

That is ironic! It’s a lovely composition, and a thoughtful one.
Thank you!

Really interesting image–the juxtaposition of manmade materials and nature.
Thanks…and thanks for the post idea!

This suits B&W very well indeed Scilla
Pattern, texture, juxtaposition…and a journalistic feel. Yeah, I like it, too.

Excellent. I’ve been forced to put a few photos into monochrome – it helps when the sun doesn’t shine and the colours go flat.
And it helps in winter when Wisconsin is black and white anyway! Thanks for visiting, Stephen. Good to meet you!
Ahh! That’s how they hold the sky up – what will they think of next!
American ingenuity! 😉
🙂
that’s really a lovely photo
Hey, thanks, sis!
This really does speak volumes. Is is an art installation, Scilla?
No, actually it’s a trellis. There are wooden beams above for climbing vines, I suspect. Would make more sense if the pillars were wood, too, I think.

I like the way you interpreted it photographically. Interesting.
I’m sure it will look quite different in spring & summer. Winter brings out some stark realities, doesn’t it?
Muy Interesante, Me Gusta Mucho El B&W, Buena FotografÃa… Un Saludo.
Gracias again!
Very very striking……..
You know how I like trees, but trees and concrete together just about have it all for me…
Lovely photgraph.
I’m glad you like it! Great to have you pop by again!
