“To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour…”
– from Auguries of Innocence by William Blake

Wildflowers are beginning to bloom in Oregon. When I first discovered that there are species of orchids native to this area, I was delighted and astonished. I felt privileged to live in a place that contained such exotic beauty!

“…The wild deer wandering here and there
Keeps the human soul from care…” – more of Auguries
The wild life that is natural, undominated or shaped by humans, is what keeps me sane these days in a world that is often wild in another way – unrestrained and violent. I have been fortunate enough to have visited wilderness areas around the country, and I contribute to protecting them. The portion of my blog dedicated to those stories and photos can be found HERE. I find the wisdom of the Wild to be one of the best teachers. Those Spiritual Lessons from Nature can be found HERE on my blog. If you care to explore those links, I would be honored, dear Reader. In the meantime, I’ve been given permission to post five more images on this Challenge, so here are some of my Wild favorites.

Beautiful in narrative and images!
Thanks, Anne!
Beautiful images and I especially love the wildflowers.
Thanks, Leanne!
Priscilla, these words sum up the beauty of your post and photos: “wisdom of the Wild.” Your words capture it all. From the opening orchid photo (what a gem!) through the wildlife and wild places you shared, this is a memorable post. Thank you for contributing to the challenge.
My pleasure, Egidio, as you picked one of my very favorite possible themes!
I was missing my nature posts in the Lens-Artists challenges. Thanks for your supporting words.
Thank you for sharing!

A truly wonderful post Priscilla. I LOVED the wild geese and the Mary Oliver piece to go with it.
Thanks, Tina. Actually, the photo shows sandhill cranes, not geese, but still wild with a distinctive bugling call.
enjoyed your flower and nature delight here – and my fav was the Fairy Slipper orchid
Thanks!

Somehow I missed out on these last posts – and they are so beautiful. How could I? I am a bit stressed and feeling low about the world…I guess that is it. Thank you for the beauty in words too!
I hope that beauty calms your stress and that you find it all around. Hugs!
Thank you, Priscilla – beauty cures.
