What a peculiar responsibility we have, as presumably the only species on Earth with the capacity to think about the Future. And as the dominant species, our actions create an impact that will be felt for a long, long time.
Knowing this, how do we choose to live? How do we spend our time? What do we use, and what do we throw away? What do we create? And how will we, individually, impact the Future?
Looking in my photo archives, I can easily see a few things I’ve done that will influence some part of the Future.
I have planted trees, both on the suburban property I used to own and on public properties as a member of a larger community.
Yes, the children are our future – I am sure they all will try to do the “right” thing where we acted mostly wrong.
As usual a thoughtful and important post, Priscilla. You have a lovely family!
Thank you so much, Ann-Christine. I do hope that those of us who didn’t do the right thing can learn and encourage change in the time we have left.
I hope so too. There is no other way.
Outstanding. Love the 4 ‘adults’, each in his own universe. Excellent.
I certainly love those 4 adults…immensely. Thanks, John!
Thank you, Scilla, on behalf of the trees too. M
Ah, the trees. 🙂 Thanks, Meg!
So true Priscilla – wonderful response to the challenge.
Thanks, Tina.
These definitely impact the future!
Thanks; I hope so!
A friend recently directed me to the charity One Tree Planted. Go to onetreeplanted.org to learn more about the excellent reforestation work they are doing.
Thanks for the tip!
Many great thoughts in your post! As well as some nice photos! I have changed some of my habits and will continue to looks for positive ways to positively impact our futures. 😊
Thank you for your visit and for your positive efforts on behalf of our future!
Congratulations on your hard work to restore habitat for the earth’s wonderful creatures. I think the private late trusts that purchase land for environment restoration and protection are such a good idea. In Australia we have a couple of those trusts as well, including Bush Heritage Australia. A number of their properties were burned recently in the Australian bushfires. I was thrilled to be able to raise over $450 for them recently by raffling my artwork.
What a marvelous way to turn art into land protection! We need to employ every good strategy and every gift into the service of healing our planet. Thanks for your contribution!
Ditto. ❤
Priscilla, what a worthwhile commitment you made when working with a conservation organization. Most importantly though are the values you taught your children over the years.
My commitment to that particular organization ends at the end of June this year, but my commitment to my children spans decades. Thanks for your visit!
Beautiful words Priscilla, especially about your children xx
Thanks, Helen, dear.
Marvellous. ❤ You've done plenty, and they will continue.
Thanks! I appreciate the encouragement. It’s very needed in these trying times.
